October Favorites

Hi Teacher Friends!
How can it be that we just completed our 44th day of kindergarten?
This past Friday, we took a field trip to a local pumpkin patch.  We had nice weather and the kids had a great time.  Viewing a field trip from the eyes of a five year old is something.  They were excited about everything. The bus ride, the pumpkin patch, choosing a pumpkin, I could go on and on.

Since I didn't get around to posting classroom tour pictures this year, I wanted to share a few pictures of my favorite part of our kindergarten classroom.  It is our class library.  It is all ready for the month of October with lots of pumpkin books, fire safety books, and  favorite character books.
This year, I removed a few of our book bins and only placed a few class favorites book bins out for students to use.  This has helped keep our class library from becoming a wreck.  The kids have done well learning how to choose a book and how to return a book.  Once I added the book buddies/theme items, the kids seem to just naturally want to be in our class library.

I have four student tables in my classroom so we take turns during centers with being in the library.  For example, kids at the blue table are in the library for center time on Monday, kids at the yellow table get their turn on Tuesday and so on.

The small round table and chairs are from Lakeshore.  The fire truck, police car, police helicopter, and ambulance are by Tonka.  I purchased them on sale from Walmart.

The school maintenance crew built this large shelf.  Someone didn't want it and had placed it in the hallway.  I was able to get it for my classroom.

The red shelf is from Lakeshore.

The small blue wire shelf is from Lakeshore.
It took me a few years to collect the items (table/chairs, red shelf, blue shelf, books) in my class library.   It also took lots of Scholastic points for the books.
I hope you enjoyed the little tour of our class library.

I hope everyone who gets a fall break enjoys it and the rest of us who don't get a fall break, well at least we can enjoy the fall weather on recess duty and bus duty.

Have a great weekend.
