100th Day Catching Up

Hi Teacher Friends!

So we blinked and now it is time for the 100th day of kindergarten.  This school year has been a busy one.  Even though my class size is much smaller than past years (15 little kiddos this year since our district did not accept transfers for kindergarten), our state is implementing a new teacher evaluation system.  That new system has created a large amount of paperwork for everyone.  We are getting through it, taking it one day at a time.

Here are a few things we did on the 100th day of school.  Our 100th day fell on Feb. 2nd this year.  The poor little groundhog didn't get as much attention this year as he usually does.  Our focus was on 100th day fun!

The excitement leading up to this day is amazing.  I am so glad I teach kindergarten and my principal/school district allow us to celebrate special days like this one.

Here is the door from the hallway.  I created this early on the morning of the 100th day using bulletin board paper and clip art from Creative Clips by Krista Wallden.  Her clip art is always so cute and looks just like kindergarten to me. I wanted this to be up before the kids arrived.

This is the other side of the door. I put some of the extra clip art on the back, so our door decoration was just as cute when we left our classroom as coming in.

We reached a milestone with our TpT store.  This is a freebie we created to say thank you to all our teacher friends.  We hope you can use this freebie with your class and that is saves you a little prep time.  You can find this freebie by clicking on the link below.
Some of the other things we did were to create a 100 link paper chain.  I had the kids work together in pairs to create the paper chain.  We also used 100 plastic cups to create towers and we loved counting to 100 with HeidiSongs 1-100 Jumpin Number song.  We also enjoyed a special 100 day snack idea shared by Jen at Crayons & Cuties in Kindergarten blog. We had our annual 100th Day Number Parade around the school building with the kids' decorated numbers.  The kids were asked to dress up like a 100 year old person and they also brought in a "100" collection.
Lots of fun and learning with this special day!

Once the 100th day excitement was over, it was back to work with our regular lessons.  The next chapter in our Math series teaches learning about money, identifying the coins by name and amount.  The kids love getting to work with the coins.  They have asked each day of this unit if we are going to "play" with the coins.  :)

That's it for now.  We are getting ready for Valentine's Day next.
Hope everyone has a great week at school.
