Fun in Kindergarten

Hi Teacher Friends!  We had lots of fun in kindergarten this past week.  Here are a few things that we have been doing.

We were busy completing some great activities for The Mitten.  We read two versions of The Mitten, one by Jan Brett and the other by Alvin Tresselt.  We completed this Venn Diagram from Deeanna Golden's Mitten Unit.  We want to send a big THANK YOU to Deeanna for creating this great unit.  (We also completed the snowman measurement / height comparison from Deeanna's Snowman unit, however I did not get a picture.)  Deeanna's Mitten unit is fabulous!  She has everything (pictures and all) in it you need to complete the activities.  Here is a link to her great blog.  Please check it out.  :)

We also have been completing a few fun bear activities this past week.  This is a favorite year after year.   This snack is from The Mailbox Magazine.  It is called "Camping Bears".  I had the kids come to the yellow table and we completed this one group at a time.  One bag of pretzels, one box of Teddy Grahams, and one can of cheese snack was plenty for my class of 20.  We even had extra to take to the principal, secretaries, and nurse in the office.
The kids brought their teddy bears (or other stuffed friend) to class on Friday.  They always enjoy this so much.  We compared the bears and graphed them according to these groups: Not a Bear, Small Bear, Medium Bear, or Big Bear.
Then for the afternoon, we took our paper towel binoculars and went around the school on a letter hunt.  We then rolled the Lakeshore carpet and to one side of the room.  I put down two inexpensive table cloths on the floor and we had a teddy bear picnic with our afternoon snack.  The kids had such a great time.
Oh, it is good to be in kindergarten!
Now it is time to get ready for Groundhog Day and our 100th Day of School.  I can hardly wait!  :)
Have a great week at school.
