We made it!  Today was the last day of school for the students.  Hello summer break!

We have two more teacher inservice days before we are truly finished.  My classroom is almost packed up for the summer.  I am already thinking about next year and a few things I want to change.  Hope everyone is enjoying their days off.  If you still have school days left, hang in there.  Summer is just around the corner.  :)

Snack Time Idea

Hi Teacher Friends!  Take a look at these cute snack butterflies.  A student's mom sent these in for afternoon snack.  They are so cute and simple to create.  I'm not sure where she found the idea but I'll try to find out so I can give credit where it is due.  The kids just loved these.

These would be fun to make for your Insect Unit.  You could set this up as a station.  The kids could follow simple steps to create their own butterfly snack.

Countdown to Summer

Hi Teacher Friends!  We have nine days of school left.  Wow!

Here is a fun idea shared by one of the first grade teachers at my school.  My kindergarten coworkers have been doing this countdown for the last twenty days of school.  I started mine with the last ten days of school.  Inside each balloon is a special activity written on a slip of paper.  Before we pop a balloon, we all take turns guessing what the special activity might be. Our treat for day ten was extra center time and the kids loved it!  Wonder what tomorrow's special activity will be? Maybe sidewalk chalk outside or shoes off in the classroom?  We will see!

Look how cute these turned out!  These little graduation kids are a TLC Lessons project from Kaye Espinosa.  She has the directions available as a free download on Teachers pay Teachers.
We just love TLC projects in our class!  Thank you Kaye for sharing this cute project!

Hope everyone has a great week at school.  We know this time of year is busy, busy, busy!  Hang in there, summer is just around the corner!   :)

Happy Mothers' Day

Hi Teacher Friends!  Wow!  Has school been busy.  We have been working on a few special Mothers' Day projects.  The kids drew and watercolor painted a vase of flowers for their mothers.

We also completed the very cute Mothers' Day book from Deanna Jump.  These books turned out so special and cute.  Here are a few samples.

My mom is special because she takes care of me.

I love it when my mom plays games with me.

I love it when my mom loves on me. (Oh, so sweet!)

I love it when my mom plays with me.

It bugs my mom when a fly flies around her.  (Uh, oh.  We need to do a little more work on word meaning here.)

It bugs my mom when people bother her.

This cute thumbprint flower idea is from First Grade Fanatics.  They shared this on their blog from an idea found on Pinterest.

Happy Mothers' Day to all the sweet moms and grandmoms.
We hope you have a very special Mothers' Day.
